Our story

Earning trust, one patient at a time.

From the moment you walk in the door, our first goal is to earn a feeling of trust. We believe the absolute best dentistry only happens when there's a strong bond between dentist and patient — working together toward the common goals of healthy teeth, healthy gums, and a smile you love.

A small practice, on purpose.

Tampa Smiles is one dentist, five hygienists and assistants, and a single chair at a time. We've stayed small for a reason — it lets us pay attention to the things big offices stop noticing. We know which patients hate the smell of cloves. We know whose daughter is starting middle school. We put on the music you actually want to hear, and the homemade chocolate chip cookies in the front lobby are real.

Modern dentistry, gentle delivery.

Dr. Redd believes pursuing the latest dental innovations is the key to optimum oral health and lasting results. Intra-oral cameras let you see exactly what we're seeing. Digital X-rays use a fraction of the radiation of older film and produce clearer images. OraVerse reverses your anesthetic after treatment so you aren't numb for hours. ViziLite makes early oral cancer screening painless. Sedation dentistry is available for patients who break into a cold sweat at the word "dentist."

For your whole family.

We see children starting around age five and watch them grow up in this chair. We see their parents, and sometimes their grandparents too. Meet the dentist

Dr. John L. Redd II, DMD

Dr. Redd has dedicated 27 years to providing families in our community with quality dental care for a lifetime of healthy, beautiful smiles. He's passionate about using new technology to make dentistry more precise, more comfortable, and less invasive than ever before.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida and went on to earn his DMD from the University of Florida, where he served as treasurer of the American Student Dental Association. Every year he engages in extensive continuing education across multi-disciplinary dentistry — esthetics, occlusion, dental implants, and orthodontics. He and his wife have two children. In his spare time he enjoys exercising and playing golf.

Dr. Redd believes in volunteering his time and skills to provide essential dental care to those in need. From a Hyde Park drop point for a local food drive to week-long mission trips abroad, this practice is built on showing up.

Mission trips with Renew Haiti

Dr. Redd makes annual week-long mission trips to Haiti with Renew Haiti, providing dental care to communities with limited access to it.

Give Back a Smile

Volunteer dental care for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, restoring smiles damaged by abuse.

Donated Dental Services

Comprehensive treatment, donated, for people with disabilities, the elderly, and the medically fragile who can't otherwise afford care.
